Oscar Peterson Quartet: “Nigerian Marketplace”

On the anniversary of the death of pianist Oscar Peterson at 82. Born in Montreal, the child of Caribbean immigrants, revered worldwide. Oscar started on the trumpet but switched to piano after suffering from TB as a child. Received almost as many awards and honors as he made albums. Performed after suffering a stroke in 1993. Said a friend: “a one-handed Oscar was better than just about anyone with two hands.”
