Steve Kuhn: “Bohemia After Dark”

Brooklyn-born pianist Steve Kuhn, 72, attended Harvard, but musically educated by his father’s 78s, teacher Margaret Chaloff and his time after Harvard at the Lenox School of Music (Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Bill Evans). He was only 21 when he joined John Coltrane’s group; he left to work with Kenny Dorham and was replaced by McCoy Tyner. Very popular in Europe, where he lived (Stockholm) for 4 years and Japan.
