Jackie Wilson: “To Be Loved”

Remembering Jackie Wilson, who died on this day in 1984. Detroit native, twice jailed in his teens, Golden Gloves boxer, first group included cousin Levi Stubbs of the Four Tops. Shot in a lover’s quarrel in 1961, collapsed while performing in 1975. Was in a coma for 9 years before passing at 49. Medical costs were paid primarily by Elvis and Al Green.
