Hank Jones: “Recordame”

Fame largely ignored pianist Hank Jones, who died last May at 91, but he was ever-present. Declined offers to join Charlie Parker and Miles Davis; he felt he wasn’t “good enough.” We disagree. Accompanied Marilyn Monroe when she famously sang Happy Birthday to JFK; was Ed Sullivan Show’s pianist. Jones: “when you listen to a pianist, each note should have an identity, each note should have a soul of its own.”
